Noise cancellation was disappointing. It will cancel out basic white noise, window open in the car, some chatter in an office, fans nearby, but anything outside that range is coming through. If you''re working from a home office and you got a dog barking in the other room behind a closed door, 20 feet away - the mic is going to pick that up and not even attempt to minimize it. If you''ve got your door open and someone speaks in the other room it will actually amplify that and it sounds like they''re speaking directly into the mic at the same level that you are with the damn thing strapped to your face. Although the noise cancelling is disappointing, it''s still better than nothing... until you consider that the audio quality sucks. It''s not horrible, but it''s definitely not good. AirPods sound a lot more clear and natural, whereas this is going to clip your top and bottom wavelengths and make you sound unnaturally compressed.
The rubber ear bud (all three size options) are garbage, none of them fit ergonomically at all. I don''t have a particularly odd ear and I''ve never had any issues with $100+ headphones or cheap random headphones. These simply are not designed for ears lol. They just kind of threw the rubber ear bud piece on at the end.
Connectivity with my desktop sucks. I can''t seem to make a phone call some days without it losing connection with my PC 2 minutes into a call. If you have a Mac, the top bar icon will result in a spinning beach ball if you hover over it half the time. The Plantronics hub app must constantly be open and running to use it at all and this app crashes frequently too.
The little notch in the case that should allow you to dock the headset and have it charge (without putting it inside the case) is very finicky, you have to go out of your way to make sure the charging prongs are actually making contact. I wouldn''t count on it to charge your headset at all, just put it inside the case.
I was looking at these to replace my AirPods which doesn''t noise cancel at all and will frequently amplify any sound. Living in the city, if sirens are going on outside, I can hear it, but it''s not particularly distracting. On AirPods it amplifies it to the point where it is a lot louder and very distracting for the person on the other end of the line. Also, and this is hit or miss with AirPods, some of my friends have no problem if they have the current gen iPhone and brand new AirPods. But for me, if I don''t have them in my ear and a call comes in, I usually can''t take them out of the case and have them sync up before the call is missed.
PROS: To the Plantronics credit, these do sync up immediately and answer the call as soon as you put it on your ear. Battery life on AirPods gets shorter and shorter over time. After a year the battery life is maybe half of what it was out of the box. I can''t speak to this particular headset longterm, but right now it is substantially longer than my AirPods and allows me to get through a full work day with 6+ hours of talk time.
Overall, the base model AirPods are leagues beyond this. This would work good if audio quality isn''t particularly important - just audio *clarity*. If you''re a mechanic answering calls in a factory and need to be heard for several hours or a full 8 hour work day.
Outside of that.... These were super lame and I''m guessing white label or no name brand noise cancelling headsets for $60 are probably just as good. Definitely nowhere near worth $200.
Update After 1 Month: I thought these would at least have a good battery life, but after a full charge I consistently can''t seem to get more than 2 hours of talk time out of these. Highly would not recommend this. Can''t believe how much this failed to deliver.
